St Columbanus on the Move
Since the work began on the church restoration in May 2016 we have been holding our Sunday Services in St Columbanus College, Ballymaconnell Road, permission having been kindly granted to us by the school.
This highly respected school has been an important part of Ballyholme life since 1960 and links between our parish and St Columbanus are long–standing. A Catholic Maintained college, the banner headline of St Columbanus’s website describes it as ‘a school for the whole community’. Currently 40% of its pupils are from a non–Catholic background and for many years we have had parishioners both attending and teaching there. Its mission statement is “Achieving success in a happy and hardworking atmosphere where each individual matures in a supportive Christian environment.”
To date our experience of meeting in the school assembly hall for worship has been very positive.
We are extremely grateful to the school principal Mr Liam Perry and the school for rolling out the red carpet for us so readily and open–heartedly. They have afforded us every Christian hospitality in their power.
