Children and young people are a vital part of the life of this parish. As well as involving them in our worship and music on a Sunday, there is a wide range of activities every week for children and young people to become involved in. A creche is provided each week, and the first Sunday of the month the 10 am cafe church is geared particularly towards young people. On the other Sundays there are activities in the Parish Centre which the children can join after a short children’s message in the main 10 am church service.
Creche is a place of joy and noise – colouring, songs and toys and lots of chattter. It’s a place for making friends – friends that the tinies will see in Toddlers group, in Bubbles and maybe even in their big schools. It’s a place for our community for the littlest members of our church, and everyone under the age of three is invited to join.
How does it work? You go to church as usual and when the children leave for Children’s Church, bring your little one up to the Columbanus room where leaders and helpers will be there to entertain and look after your young folk – then go back to the rest of the service! The leaders will take your details and you can rest and worship God knowing that your little one is being cared for.
Creche is organized by Rachel Brittain and co–leaders Christine Rankin and Nicola Gullen. If you have any questions, please get into contact with Rachel via the Parish Office.
Children’s Church is made up of three groups – Bubbles (pre–school, P1–P2), Splash (P3–P5) and Ice (P6–P7), who each have their own space and group where they will sing, dance, play games, make crafts and learn about the love that God has for them.. All the groups join together at the end of each session for a time of praise before being picked up by their parents.
Our Children's Worker Paula organises and leads the programme, assisted by a team of parents and young leaders.
